Recent years have seen a dramatic boom in interest in sustainable design and construction. Driven by factors including increasing concern about environmental issues, such as climate change, and rising energy prices, sustainable construction has entered the mainstream.

There is a growing interest in sustainable construction among clients, policymakers, building professionals, the construction industry and the wider public alike. Increasingly this interest is manifested in greater regulation and growing customer demand and client requirements.

As a result, there have been a rising number of sustainable construction projects in recent years, both new build and refurbishment, including individual homes and larger residential developments, schools, offices, hospitals and many other buildings. It is crucial we learn the lessons, both good and bad, from these projects, as the demand and requirement for sustainable construction increase.

Chaired by broadcaster and designer Charlie Luxton and featuring architect Bill Dunster as keynote speaker, this conference will bring together leading practitioners of sustainable construction from the South West and beyond to share their experience and knowledge with you based on real-life sustainable construction case studies.

They will look at sustainable materials, tools and technologies that are currently available and those that are emerging, the costs and benefits of sustainability and how it can be measured, allowing delegates to take away learning relevant to their particular discipline.

If you’re involved in designing, specifying, building and/or refurbishing buildings, this special one-day conference is not to be missed.

This conference will be of interest to a
rchitects, building professionals, developers, clients, councillors and local authority officers.

In a unique partnership the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), the Cornwall Sustainable Building Trust (CSBT), the Centre for Sustainable Futures at the University of Plymouth and the Devon Sustainable Building Initiative (DSBI) have joined forces to hold this exciting conference at the internationally acclaimed Eden Project, home to several award-winning examples of sustainable construction.
